Accounting distribution on purchase order

Hi Experts,

I have two environments.

I have created a purchase order in both environments. 'New fixed asset?' is marked to yes and Asset group is selected.

In 1st environment, accounting distribution is showing the main account selected in the 'Purchase expenditure for expense'

In 2nd environment, accounting distribution is showing the main account selected in the fixed asset posting profile 'Acquisition'.

Both environment have same version.
Installed product version : 10.0.46 (10.0.2428.95)Installed platform version : Update70 (7.0.7778.45)

I tried to found the difference but unable to trace, checked all parameters etc but unable to find the reason. Tried for different legal entity in both environment, result is same.

I wanted to have fixed asset posting profile account as this is correct.

Could you please help what i am missing.

Hi,

Can you tell what you mean by 'Purchase expenditure for expense'? Is this the main account as selected on the Inventory posting configuration form?
Have you validated the differences in enabled features and all FA parameters?

Hi @CU26111808-0,

Could you please confirm whether you are adding a category or an item in the PO line?

If you are using a category, the Accounting View distribution will show the “Purchase expenditure for expense” account defined with the category in the Purchase Order Posting Profile.

If you are using an item, it will show the “Purchase expenditure for product” account defined in the Purchase Order Posting Profile setup.

As you mentioned, in the first environment the account showing is “Purchase expenditure for expense,” posting type account which gives the impression that a category is being used.

In the second environment, you mentioned the account is the Acquisition account. Could you please check whether the same Acquisition account is set up in the Purchase Order posting profile under the “Purchase expenditure for product” posting type account? If FA Acquisition account is defined in "Purchase expenditure for product” posting type than you need to correct posting profile.

If this is not the case as I described, could you please share a screenshot of the View Distribution and the Posting Profile setup?

I tested in a Contoso environment with version 10.0.47, but I still see "Purchase expenditure for expense" in the distribution.

Hello André Arnaud de Cal... - 'Purchase expenditure for expense' - Yes this is Inventory posting account.

I checked all parameters for Fixed assets, all are same in both legal entities. I checked the version are also same. I tried to find out fixed asset features, same are enabled in both environment.

Hello Syed Haris Shah - I am using the Procurement category in both environment. I also checked Purchase exenditure for product, and Purchase expenditure for expense, in both fixed asset GL account are not assigned in both environment.

Hello Giorgio Bonacorsi - Yes in Contoso it is taking purchase expenditure for expense but in client environment, it is considering the Asset acquisition GL account. I am trying to find out the difference. I just configured legal entity in client environment and no such settings i enabled.

I can see new features for fixed asset. Is MS doing any changes in Fixed asset which causing this issue?

Hi @CU26111808-0,

Please share screenshots of the PO category and accounting distribution. Also include the PO posting profile with any ledger accounts configured for that category, along with the Fixed Asset posting profile account shown in the distribution view.
