Label generation and material movement which is in WIP

Hi,

I have a scenario where a FG1 has components of RM1 and Operations LS and RP.
Once the operation LS is posted, I need to generate a label stated the details of Item and also to post movement of the item.
This is because the first operation can be performed in a different location, so for tracking we need the post the transfer movement from WIP location to operation location and once completed will be returned back.

So, can anyone help me if faced this type of requirement and how you resolved.

Thanks,
RRK

    Hello RRK,

I think that's only possible with movement via the Warehouse app

A print step can be added to the work template of the movement:

    Best regards,

    Hi,

For this you need to configure a movement menu which uses a work template with a print step.

The "Move and Print" options require that the WIP is added in inventory.  That would mean breaking a 2 operations production order in two production orders, one for LS and the other for RP, to add the WIP item in inventory so you can move it. If you want to go that way, it is just as easy to print a Finish Good put away label for each production order.

But I suspect that you want to print a label for in-process material without adding it to inventory, correct? Probably with the next operation printed on the label?

If that is so, without customization, there will not be an automatic trigger to print the label so someone would need to click on a "Print Label" button.

Suggest you have to look at "Custom Labels" (Activated on Warehouse Management Parameter > Reports > Custom labels FastTab).  There are plenty of "How-to" articles online but in a nutshell, you would need o configure Label Layout Data Source to add the table/screen (Route/Job Card) from which your operators would print (if you are using the PFE and want the button there, that might require an extension). Then you'd need to design the Label Layout where you can add different joins and methods to pull information from other tables or temp tables to build content of the label.

I have not done it myself, but this is how I would tackle it if I wanted to print a label for WIP items
without adding the WIP item in inventory.
