How do I change the default font on our AP checks, it is a modified text report in report writer

when I click on the field and try to open the 'drawings' option, the 'drawing' is greyed out so I can't change the font.

Need to change ASAP . Thanks

Hello,

So, Text version of Reports in Report Writer, cannot have the font changed in Report writer. Only Graphical Versions of the report can change the font.

How do we know if a report is a Text or Graphical Report? We look at the Report Destination window and see if the Text Report Option is marked.

Now, we cannot just unmark that checkbox and change the font. This will likely cause problems with the layout and you will likely need to move things around and fix what it breaks.

You can try unmarking it, making the change and then marking the text checkbox again. However, this will likely cause issues. (Be sure you have a backup of your original modified report before you start making changes so you can restore it back if needed).

What I would suggest is to test the process in the article below to change it in the DEX.ini and see if that works for you if you just want to change the font.

In Report Writer, the font on AP checks is usually controlled by the report layout or the original report definition rather than the Drawing Options, which is why that option is greyed out. Instead of clicking directly on the field, open the report in layout mode, go to Tools > Report Section Options or Format > Report, and check if the font is set at the section level. If it’s a modified text report, you may also need to open the report definition in the appropriate report dictionary (via Report Writer setup) and change the font there, then save and reassign the modified report. If it’s still locked, the field may be using a predefined format, meaning you’ll need to create a new text field or adjust the report template itself NicView

The far superior PM check is the Check With Stub on Top and Bottom - Graphical. It was added several versions ago.

The Check With Stub on Top and Bottom - Text report often causes issues with banks/post office due to the font on the face of the check being too small for electronic readers.

The Graphical version has a larger font on the face of the check and allows for a smaller font on the stubs. Plus, it allows check stock with no preprinted headings/lines, making it easier to keep the check aligned. 🙂 (If you have check stock with lines/headers, you can easily modify the Graphical version of the check format to remove the objects that are preprinted on the check stock.)
