To Dynamics GP Community:

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the end-of-life for Microsoft Dynamics GP, a product that has been a cornerstone of our community for over 20 years. This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the impact it may have on you.

End of Life Timeline:

September 30, 2029: End of product enhancements, regulatory (tax) updates, service packs and technical support.
April 30, 2031: End of security updates.

As previously announced:

April 1, 2025: No new customers for GP perpetual licenses.
April 1, 2026: No new customers for GP subscription licenses.

Why This Change?

Microsoft has made significant investments in Dynamics 365 Business Central and the ISV solutions ecosystem. This decision aims to encourage our on-premises customers to migrate to Dynamics 365 Business Central, which offers a better long-term solution with the benefits of cloud technology, including enhanced security and AI functionality.

What Does This Mean for You?

We understand that this transition may raise questions and concerns. Our team is committed to supporting you through this change. We encourage you to stay current on enhancements to benefit from available discounts when moving to Dynamics 365 Business Central.

This is truly the end of an era. Microsoft Dynamics GP has been an essential part of many businesses' operations, and while it's hard to see it go, the clarity and support you've provided throughout this transition are appreciated. Moving toward Dynamics 365 Business Central makes sense given the direction of cloud-first strategies and the increasing demand for integrated AI and secure solutions.

For those of us who've grown alongside GP, this is also a reminder to stay open to evolving technologies—not just in business software but even in how we unwind. For a fun mental break, I’d recommend checking out Shadow Fight 2 Special Edition. It’s a richly animated action game with a compelling story—perfect after a long day of data migration planning!

Hi Trevor

You need to make sure you look at ISV products. The ISV community are still actively developing new functionality.

I know that my GP Power Tools adds many modern features. The latest build added “No code/Low Code” customisation to GP and the ability to add fields to windows via code, no modified or alternate windows needed.

Are most people looking to fully migrate to Dynamics 365 Business Central, or are they exploring ways to extend the life of their current systems in the meantime? It is started back in 1990 and now it is 2025, 35 years is good time to stay. 5 years of time to switch over is good time with Technology changing every day. Who knows what AI/ML will be doing for us in next 5 years.

Terry, thank you for always being a trusted source of reliable information regarding GP. While I've been prepping my customers that this time is coming, I'm also asking them to remain calm and make good business decisions rather than just react to whatever Microsoft decides to say or the FUD from the competitive marketplace. In my almost 30 years of GP consulting, I've learned this product is resilient and is still a fantastic solution for so many companies across myriad industries. Thanks again for your service over the years.
