I want to change our standard costs in GP, When I go to the Cards> Inventory > Item Maintenance and save the changes I get a message saying, " You cannot change the standard cost of this item in this window. Use the Change Item Standard Cost window to change the standard cost of this item."

When I go to the Tools> Utilities>Inventory>Change Item Standard Cost window and make the change and click Process button, I get the error " You cannot complete this process while invoices are being posted."

How can I get to change the standard cost in GP2018?

Change Standard Cost

I am assuming you are using GP Inventory WITHOUT GP manufacturing enabled.

The message "You cannot complete this process while invoices are being posted." is letting you know that others are processing transactions. Standard Cost - similar to other utilities like Item Reconcile - need users out of related windows so that the utility has access to any related data.

If you have confirmed that no users are activity working in GP inventory-related windows (Microsoft Dynamics GP > Inquiry > System > Batch is a good place to look), you will need all users out of GP to clear all the data locks.

If you don't have access (or are not comfortable modifying SQL data), have the GP SQL Server restarted (as that will clear all the locks). 😃

[If none of the above helps, you may have a batch stuck in a processing status (like receiving) that is getting in the way. If you are familiar with resolving these types of errors, you could attempt that review/cleanup before clearing locks/restarting the server.]
