How can organizations fully leverage Copilot in Dynamics 365 Business Central to streamline finance, supply chain, and day-to-day operations by using AI-driven insights, natural language prompts, and predictive analytics—while addressing challenges such as data readiness, customization limitations, user training, compliance requirements, and measuring real ROI from Copilot adoption across different business roles?

    Hello ,

Copilot works best when data is clean, processes are standard, and users know how to ask questions.

Value: Faster insights (finance), better forecasts (supply chain), quicker daily tasks (ops)

Requirements: Clean master data, good dimensions, minimal customizations

Limits: Copilot favors standard BC; heavy custom code reduces impact

Adoption: Train users on prompting, not AI theory

    Compliance: Uses existing BC/M365 permissions

ROI: Measure time saved, not “AI usage” (faster close, fewer manual checks)

    Bottom line:
Fix data → stay standard → train users → track time saved.

    Hi,

    1) Where Copilot adds real value

    • Finance: invoice/entry explanations, variance summaries, faster month-end narratives
    • Supply Chain: PO/vendor communication drafts, exception explanations (late/short supply)
    • Operations: customer/order summaries, quick status explanations
    • Use built-in Copilot first. Extend only for high-value gaps.

    2) Customization reality

    • Copilot is SaaS-first
    • Use Copilot extensibility only for small, focused use cases
    • Always keep human review for postings & external communication

    3) Train by role, not by feature

    • Give each role 5–10 proven prompts
    • Teach “good vs bad prompts”
    • Enforce review for financial/external output

    Recommended rollout

    1. Pick 2–3 high-volume processes
    2. Fix minimum data issues
    3. Pilot with key users (2 weeks)
    4. Measure → extend → scale

Do mark as verified if this helps,
    Aman K

Hi, Apart from the Agent function, all Copilot functions in BC are currently free, and users do not need to make any additional investment.
    More details:

    Thanks.
