Using Resource Groups in Production routes, but resources have different throughputs

Posted on by 32
My company is looking into redesigning our production routes to be setup at the Resource Group level, instead of just a single Resource. Currently, for any production item, we designate a single resource on a route, and if there are multiple resources that item could run on, we have separate routes created for each resource. Ideally, we would be able to create a single resource group that contains all of these possible resources for that item, and then create a single route that is set at the resource group level. The problem we run into is that this same item will run differently on each of the different resources, some faster, some slower. In our routes, we have been using the "times" section to designate the throughout, using "Process Quantity" field as the pounds per hour that we are able to run. The issue we are running into now, is that we are only able to set this field at once value for the entire route, despite using a resource group.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how we can setup our routes to use Resource Groups for the primary operation, while also having the flexibility to have different process quantities depending on which resource in the resource group gets selected?

Using Resource Groups in Production routes, but resources have different throughputs
    Hi,

By default, the system doesn't allow you to assign different process quantities to each resource within a Resource Group. Instead, the system lets you set a single process quantity for the entire route, which applies the same value regardless of which resource in the group is chosen. This limitation arises due to the system’s standard functionality, which does not differentiate process quantities for individual resources within a resource group.

This issue can be resolved through customization, but it would require significant development effort. This could involve creating custom fields to specify different process quantities for each resource, and implementing custom logic to adjust the process quantity based on the selected resource during production.

    Hope you got the point.

    Best Regards
