Hi Community,

Was wondering if any of you have documentation on how to set up User Defined - Calculation Method of Deferral Template? This is the documentation that's available but its more of a general guidance.

Thank you!
I have the same question (0)

User-Defined: The periodic deferral amounts aren't calculated. You must manually fill the Amount field for each period in the Deferral Schedule page.

So when using the deferral template, the user will need to open the deferral schedule on each line and manually enter the amounts.

    Hello,

You can use below step-by-step process:
Calculation Method on the Deferral Code is User Defined.
    Field Value
    Deferral Code e.g., MANUAL
    Description Manual Revenue Deferral
Deferral Account Your G/L Liability Account
    Deferral % 100
    Calc. Method User-Defined
    Start Date Posting Date
    No. of Periods 2
Period Desc. Deferral Revenue for the month of %4 in %6

In the Invoice you need to define the deferral code.
From Deferral Schedule option available at 3 dot on the right side of the deferral code field, you can define the amount manual.

If you use the User Defined method you then need to manually setup your deferral amounts in the deferral schedule. Below is an example:
You want to make sure your Amount to defer matches the lines as well. Once thats done you're good to go.

    Hello,
The Microsoft docs are pretty much the full story here: in Business Central, User-Defined on a Deferral Template does not give you a special setup method or formula — it just means BC won’t calculate the deferral amounts automatically, so you create the template with Calc. Method = User-Defined, apply it to the G/L account/item/resource or document line, then open Deferral Schedule and manually enter or adjust the Amount per period before posting; so if you were looking for extra Microsoft documentation with a separate configuration process, there really isn’t much beyond that, because this option is basically the manual fallback when Straight-Line, Equal per Period, or Days per Period don’t fit.
