We have a Dynamics GP customer that is building a backup/failover solution for their GP instance and is struggling a bit with Management Reporter. For MR normally we'll stand up a new instance and then just export and import reports from the main site.

But in this case the customer uses reporting groups and report library folders for distribution to various divisions/departments and would like to retain some of that framework if possible. We can successfully decrypt the MR database upon restore but are having issues in that the existing MR administrator is from the old domain. Has anyone successfully updated or remapped an existing MR Administrator after restoring a ManagementReporter database into a new domain, where the original Windows SIDs are no longer valid?

Please advise. Look forward to a response.

I have not done the exact migration you are describing but here are a few things that may help.

In a few instances, I have recreated the MR database by importing the TDBX and then inserting data into the MR tables to recreate missing folders and groups. It has been several years since I last did it, but I remember it being fairly straightforward as the table names have some logic to them. 🙂

Appreciate the feedback. I've been working at this for over a week. I had snippets of the scripts and process, but nothing that put all the pieces together. With the winding down of GP a lot of the articles and tools are becoming more difficult to obtain.

Appreciate the assist.
