Pinting Dynamics 365 BC checks that can be processed by remote deposit phone apps

I need help with formatting check layouts from Dynamics 365 BC.

We have migrated 22 of the 30 companies from Dynamics GP and I thought check printing was going well until someone tried to do a remote deposit on one of the checks.  The iphone app from BOA and Wells Fargo will not read it.   Deposits at the bank with a MICR scanner seem to work fine.

I have modified the RDLC check layout to match our Dynamics GP Printboss checks as close as I can.  I am using Microsoft Report Builder to modify the check layout.

Are you aware of any check formatting software like PrintBoss for Dynamics 365 BC?

Does anyone have a check template that they know works for remote deposit.  I am using layout 10401 modified to have our bank name on the check.

Has anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it?

Hi, The check report has several standard layouts; you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Most remote deposit failures in Business Central checks are caused by incorrect MICR font, size, or alignment, not the RDLC layout itself. Business Central already includes licensed MICR E-13B and CMC-7 fonts and security fonts specifically for check printing, and these must be used exactly (no scaling, substitutions, or misalignment), otherwise mobile banking apps won’t recognize the check even if bank scanners do. Also ensure you use standard BC check reports like 1401, 10411, or 10412 and proper MICR toner/check stock instead of trying to fully replicate GP/PrintBoss layouts. If you want PrintBoss-style control, PrintBoss and ForNAV are commonly used with BC, but most issues are resolved by correcting MICR font usage and positioning in the standard layout.

    Hi,

It is generally the format and the legibility of the content of the check.

Note that many bank requires the endorsement on the check as "For Mobile Deposit at Wells Fargo Only". So you need to write it on the check format. Also make sure that details on the check include MICR code is legible.

Thank you for your responses.    We are moving from a Data center hosted Windows Environment to a totally m365 environment. We also use Mac Books.  Printboss said they would not be a good fit for an all Mac environment.

I did resolve the issue.  These are the steps.  They may not have all been required but this worked for me.

    1) I started with the form 10401.  It was missing a number of elements for the body of the check like check number.  I found it as field 75 in the footer string. =Cstr(Choose(75,Split(Cstr(ReportItems!FooterInfo.Value), Chr(177))))
    2) I got a form from a local bank with their requirement to meet the remote deposit specs.
    3) I had to modify the Report properties for the RDLC form 10401.  I had to change the Bottom margin from .333 to .1 to allow me to move the micr line down.
    4) I moved Date and Amount up toward the right upper corner.
    5)  I copied the working format for each of the 8 banks that we use and just changed the Bank Name and Fractional code.
    6) With these changes I did deposit at the local Wells Fargo with their check reader and they verified that they read all of the relevant data.  Then I deposited another check using their iphone bank app.
