How are construction companies in the UAE using Dynamics 365 Business Central?

Hello Community,

We are exploring Dynamics 365 Business Central for construction project management in the UAE and would like to learn from organizations that have implemented it.

How are you managing job costing, procurement, project accounting, and VAT compliance within Business Central? Have you encountered any challenges or identified best practices during implementation?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help.

I don't work in the UAE but i'd recommend using Microsoft's partner lookup. You can look for partners that specialize in D365 and are located in the UAE from here: Microsoft Marketplace | cloud solutions, AI apps, and agents

    Hello,
Business Central can cover the core finance side of construction using Projects: set each construction contract as a Project, use Project Tasks like WBS/cost codes, post labor/resources/items/expenses to the project, link purchase orders or purchase invoices using Project No. and Project Task No., and use WIP/project posting groups for accounting. The main challenge is that BC is not a full construction management system out of the box, so items like BOQ control, subcontractor certificates, progress claims, retention, variation orders, site approvals, and advanced project procurement usually need either a construction ISV app or customization. For UAE VAT, use BC VAT posting setup and VAT reports as the accounting base, but validate UAE-specific FTA requirements with a local partner/localization because statutory formats and audit requirements may need extra setup or extensions. Best practice: keep standard posting as much as possible, use dimensions carefully, define project task/cost-code structure early, control procurement through approvals, and avoid customizing G/L/VAT posting unless absolutely required.
    Regards,
    Oussama Sabbouh
