No. Series - Sharing the same sequence

I am working on a situation where there are 3 different Sales Order Types with their distinct prefixes:
  • EQ
  • PG
  • TC
I know I can set up separate No Series for each of these types, but what if I want them to share the same numerical sequence?  For instance:
  • EQ046027
  • PG046028
  • TC046029
  • PG046030
I don't see anywhere in the No. Series setups or Relationships where I can choose one as the "master" for shared numerical sequencing, then just add the correct prefix based on the selected Series.

Only thing I can think of is to setup each No. Series separately with the same numerical ranges, and add some AL Code and synchronize the Last Date Used and Last No. Used values for each Series every time a new Sales Order is entered.

Is there a better way that I am overlooking?

No. Series - Sharing the same sequence
    Hello,

Out of the box, Business Central does not support shared numbering across multiple No. Series with different prefixes. A small customization is required - this can’t be achieved with standard No. Series setup alone.  You can customize this with AL code to enforce a shared counter and update each series’ last number.

Hope this answer will help you!

I actually have the same question as it relates to Invoices & Credit Memos.  Each will start with a different prefix, but should share the same number series:
    • I104360
    • C104361
    • I104362
We are migrating to BC from Dynamics SL, and this is how SL is handling the numbering sequences.  Would prefer to follow the same approach in BC if possible.
