We have a requirement where we need to generate a separate license plate for each quantity when work is created for the same location in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.

In the current process, the system generates a single license plate for the total quantity in the location during work creation. However, our business requirement is to have the system automatically assign or generate individual license plates for each quantity unit (e.g., 1 LP per item or per unit picked) under the same work and location.

We would like to understand if this functionality can be achieved using standard features or if there are any configuration options or work template settings that support this behavior.

Hi

What I have understood from your comment is that you wish to generate one license plate for every pcs you pick.

This can be achieved by making sure we pick 1 pcs / work which will generate one license plate / pcs

Work template can be setup to generate work for one 1 pcs / work

This is possible and you can try below

1 - Assuming we have stock of item B on location Loc 07

2 - Stock of item B on location Loc 07 is 10 Pcs

3 - Loc 07 is non license plate controlled

4 - Sales order for 100 Pcs

5 - Reservation is done

6 - Release to warehouse

7 - System will generate 10 works (1 work / pcs)

8 - One license plate is generated for each and every pcs as you process these works.

Let me know if your scenario is different from what I have understood. I will share alternate solution in that case.

and if you want one Work per item/location you can set Maximum number of pick lines to 1.

Hi,

Because of the Reservation Hierarchy assigned the item (normally Site-Warehouse-Inventory Status above location), the target license plate is likely not known until the pick work starts. The target LP is generally the first LP picked (if you pick the totality) or manually/automatically assign when you start picking. You can regard the target LP as the ID you assign to the container in which you pick.

I think that what you are trying to achieve is to break down the work quantity based on quantity inventoried on a LP. This would be possible if that quantity was a constant (conversion between units and using Unit Sequence Group like Sagar suggested), but if it varies (sometime 5, sometime 3 or 20), it would not be done at work creation. Rather, the warehouse worker would need to do something in the mobile device to break the work quantity to that LP (on the mobile, its called a "Full"). The "Full" is the warehouse worker telling the system : "this LP is full, break-it off from the work and let me put ity away and continue picking". This is how one breaks the work quantity to a LP quantity; the LP number then become the target LP.

Otherwise, you can try using a Reservation hierarchy with the <Allow reservation on demand order> checkboxes selected for dimension below location and reserve specific License plates. Then, you would have work with work lines for each LP value (Target LP would remain at the work header), but could probably break the work using Work Order Breaks on Work Template (in Action ribbon) and using LP number as break marker.
