Search in drilldown and search on list lead to different results

Hey there!

We have changed the default Lookup to a Drilldown on the Sales Order Subform. When opening the drilldown and then searching "nutzung" it will show these results:
But when entering "nutzung" on the Sales Order Subform and then opening the Drilldown the results are different:

Any idea why the results are different and if we are able to change the behaviour?

While debugging we have noticed that the "Lookup" Trigger is only called when we open the drilldown and search in the list but not when entering something in the field and then opening the drilldown
I have the same question (0)

Search in drilldown and search on list lead to different results

    Hi Misalbaek,

Thanks for your question! When changing the default Lookup to Drilldown on the Sales Order Subform in Business Central, it's not uncommon to see different search results between the drilldown view and the list page.

Here are a few things to consider:

    1. Search Behavior Differences

      • Drilldown views may apply additional filters or context-specific logic, especially if the page is customized.
      • List pages often show broader results unless explicitly filtered.
    2. Field-Level Search

      • The search term “nutzung” may match different fields depending on the page setup.
      • Check which fields are indexed or searchable in the drilldown vs. list view.
    3. Customization Impact

      • If you've customized the drilldown behavior, ensure that the searchable columns and filters are consistent with the list page.
      • Use Page Inspection (Ctrl+Alt+F1) to compare the underlying source tables and filters.
    4. Workaround

      • Consider aligning the search setup by modifying the page or using a custom view that standardizes the search behavior across both interfaces.

Let me know if this helps, and please mark the response as helpful if it answered your question 😊

    Best regards!

Hi, Perhaps it is for the following reasons.
Business Central 2024 wave 2 (BC25): New options for Search in lists (Modern Search and new OptimizeForTextSearch property)

    Thanks.
