Hello everyone,
I am facing an issue in Business Central related to Production BOM, Quantity per, and Quantity Rounding Precision.
We have a finished item with a Production BOM. Some BOM components are measured in inches/feet, and their Quantity per values have high decimal precision, for example:
Quantity per = 1.57813
For one component item, the Quantity Rounding Precision is set to:
Qty. Rounding Precision = 0.25
When we create a Firm Planned Production Order, the component quantity is calculated and visible under Production Order Components with decimal values.
However, when we run Calculate Plan from the Planning Worksheet to generate purchase suggestions, Business Central shows:
All items are available and no planning lines are created.
But we expect planning lines to be created for the component requirement.
My question is: can this happen because the BOM Quantity per value, such as 1.57813, does not match the item’s Quantity Rounding Precision of 0.25?
I would like to understand:
- How does Business Central use Quantity Rounding Precision during MRP / Planning Worksheet calculation?
- Does planning round the production order component demand before calculating net requirements?
- Should we adjust BOM quantities to match
0.25 multiples, or should we change the item’s rounding precision to support higher decimal quantities?
- For inch/feet-based items, what is the best practice for UOM and rounding precision setup?
Any guidance on the technical reason and recommended setup would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
