Syncing Tax inclusive and exclusive prices to shopify

I'm having a dilemma where I can't seem to send tax inclusive and tax exempted item prices to shopify. It seems that taxes are calculated the same for items whether they are tax exempt or not and sent to shopify.

For example, if I there 2 items at $10 one with tax included in price toggle checked and one not, the price sent are either $8.89 and $10 or $10 and $11.25. there doesn't seem to have a way to dynamically calculate the VAT based on this toggle.

Does anyone has any idea how to fix this issue?

I'm sorry I can't help you directly. I suggest you submit this question to BC Viva Engage, where Microsoft's technical staff will see it and give you better advice.

    Thanks.

    Hello,
This looks like a standard Shopify connector limitation/configuration issue: Business Central’s Shopify price sync uses the shop/catalog setting Prices including VAT plus one VAT Business Posting Group to calculate the price sent to Shopify, so it doesn’t dynamically decide per item from the item’s “tax included/exempt” behavior the way you’re expecting; for different tax treatments, Microsoft points to handling reduced/exempt rates in Shopify tax overrides/exemptions or using separate Shopify/BC setup such as different catalogs/markets/customer price setup where applicable. So the clean fix is usually: send consistent product prices from BC, let Shopify tax settings/overrides decide whether the item is taxable/exempt at checkout, and avoid mixing tax-inclusive and tax-exempt pricing logic in one BC Shopify price sync setup; if you must send different calculated prices per item, that likely needs customization around the connector price export.

@OussamaSabbouh That's exactly what I though and the next steps for me. I would issue a feature request if I could but the customization would be likely.

@YUN It seems that with my admin account, I can't access that community. Is there way I can request access?

    Hi,
The Shopify connector in BC reads the Prices Including VAT setting from the Shopify Shop card, not from each item. So whichever side is configured there, every product is sent the same way, and the per-item toggle has no effect on the outgoing price. That is why the mixed prices never come out correct, the connector simply does not support two pricing modes in the same shop.

Two ways to handle it. The clean approach is to align all items to one tax model in BC, usually Prices Including VAT on, and let Shopify do the VAT display per region using tax groups and zones, this is the way Microsoft designed it to work. The other way, if mixed pricing is really required, is to subscribe to the OnBeforeCalculatePrice event on the Shopify price calculation codeunit and override the outgoing price per item based on the local Prices Including VAT flag. Small extension, upgrade safe, and gives full control.

Microsoft treats this behaviour as by design, not a bug, so a fix from the standard connector is not expected.
