Hi
it's natural to say that you wish to view information when sales order is entered but for the system it's the links from the sales orders down to the BOM items is what matters,
Ideally process is
1 - Sales order is entered
2 - Production order is manually created for by MRP
3 - Master Planning is run (Scheduled)
4 - Planned purchase and transfer orders are created
5 - At this stage you are in a good position to analyze data as system has done a detailed check using MRP
Below are the 4 options you can evaluate
1. Explosion (on the planned production order) - Think of this as the “X‑ray view” of the BOM. One clicks and you see every component, how much is needed, what’s on‑hand, and what MRP has already planned to cover the gaps.
2. Net requirements (per item/component) - Zoom in on a single part — chain, rim, pedal — and see its full supply/demand story: stock, open POs, planned POs, and reservations. Perfect for drilling into problem children.
3. Production floor management workspace - The cockpit view. Run a material availability check and instantly know if your production order is green, amber, or red on component readiness. Great for operational go/no‑go decisions.
4. Planned orders workspace - The planner’s dashboard. All planned supply (production + purchase) in one place, filterable by your finished good. Less about one order, more about the big picture of supply coverage.
