Work exception for short picking with auto create cycle counting is not working

Hello guys,

Regarding Advance Warehouse Management, I tried to setup Work Exception for Short Pick, with an idea that if it is Short Pick, F&O can create counting journal (probably spot counting?) to investigate the location that has Short Pick.

So, I setup Work Exception like this:

I already setup:

- Work class = Cycle Counting, named it "CYCLE"

- Stock Adjustment type, named it as "SHORTPICK"

- WMS parameter, Cycle Counting, default cycle counting adjustment type = "SHORTPICK", and default Cycle Counting class ="CYCLE"

- Worker, is a Cycle Count Supervisor

- Mobile device menu item, in one of the Pick menu, add Work class CYCLE with Cycle Counting setup.

and my testing is:

1. I have item in stock for Location A01 = 10

2. SO order qty = 8, then reserved, so the status became "Reserved Physical" = 8

3. During Warehouse App Picking, choose "Short Pick", then key in 3, then closed it.

4. Warehouse Work, is closed, with qty = 3.

But issue is there is no Cycle count or counting journal created.

Also, if I noticed on stock transaction from the order. still "Reserved Physical" = 8, instead Picked = 3 and Reserved Physical = 5

Although the shipment did decrease to 3, and I'm able to proceed with delivery of this 3. If it is delivered, stock transaction will be "Deducted"=3 (which I think correct)

But the issue is, why there is no counting journal created or cycle counting created?

And why the stock transaction when Warehouse Work closed, it is not saying Picked =3, but still reserved physical = 8 ?

And what I have imagine, the counting supposed to create journal for that location A01, about 7, because initially recorded as 10, then only able to picked 3.

May I know if this logic of me is correct ?

and what setup I missed.

Have you already checked the form "Open cycle count work"?

Is the work exception visible in the "Work exceptions log"?

Hi

can you please check warehouse setups in below place

1 - Warehouse management parameters > Cycle counting > Make sure all setups are done.

2 - Work template is setup for work type counting

if you set work exception as 'Short pick' the option comes for counting as you can see below in case you perform short picking

Counting was done on the mobile device as you see below in the second last image and below is the work which is now in the pending review. The counting was done for location 01010104 as this was the original pick location on which 'Short picking' was done.

Another option is when you use work exception 'Work'

This will generate work in case you used location override during work processing.

You can see below a counting work is generated for the original pick location was overridden by us using work exception 'Location override'

No in Open Cycle Count.

Yes, in Work Exception Log:

But this log, in my opinion is only served as log history, right? Is there anything that we can tell what's wrong?

Hi Sagar,

I didn't see the Cycle counting step in Warehouse app :

So after key in the shortpick quantity, then goes to the Put stage.

But even when it does show, seems it is not what I expected. Since I expect that Counting journal will be created, with the remaining stock, wait for a person attend and investigate, later after the order delivered those that can be picked.

So, if that is the case, I can't use this auto cycle counting then. It is different than I imagine.

To do it by location override seems also not right.

Guess my work around now is, in that Work exception, nothing checked, so it will close Work to whatever quantity found, in the example means it is 3. then Unreserved those remaining delivery, qty = 5, which mean in the stock availability = 7. Then I will create manual stock adjustment for 7, reserve there 7 to block this quantity, but not post the journal, so user can investigate first.

If it is true, only 3 actually in the warehouse (like the worker found), then I will post the stock adjustment to empty the location.

Hi Voltes,

The short-pick function will not create new Cycle Count work if there is already an open Cycle Count for the location. Worth checking if you already have open Cycle Count work for A01.

Hi,

Like Terry said, counting work already exists so no created again.

Or... adjustment is made without counting work. So you have the exception with no work. Deactivate the "Is cycle count supervisor" on the worker and try again. Cycle count supervisor are trustworthy employees that are authorized to make adjustment without someone verifying after them.
