We want to implement MS Dynamics Sales Enterprise and Marketing so I need to learn how to configure and setup. Can you tell me if there is a good resources to learn with or maybe even a walkthrough?

What would you say the basic fundamentals  I would need to be aware of before clicking on anything please? I am a complete novice with Dynamics 365.

Thanks

I have and have done the fundamentals course but I want a deeper understanding for example if I wanted to customise the setup and add my own tables and relationships.

If you're starting fresh with Dynamics 365 Sales + Marketing, don’t jump straight into configuration. A lot of issues come from skipping fundamentals.

    Start with this order:

    1. Understand the data model

Learn core entities like Leads, Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities. This is the foundation.

    2. Security & roles

Set up users, business units, and security roles early. Fixing this later is painful.

    3. Basic Sales process

Configure lead → opportunity → quote → order flow. Keep it simple first.

    4. Forms & views

Customize only what’s necessary. Avoid over-customizing early.

    5. Automation

Use Power Automate / workflows for simple tasks (lead assignment, notifications).

    6. Marketing basics

Start with segments, email journeys, and forms. Don’t overcomplicate journeys initially.

    7.

    Good learning resources:

    • Microsoft Learn (best starting point, structured and free)
    • Trial environment / sandbox (learn by doing)
    • YouTube walkthroughs for real UI scenarios

    •

    Big tip:

Don’t try to build the “final system” on day one. Start with a basic working flow, test with users, then iterate.

That approach saves a lot of rework later.
