Item creation failing + Commerce parameters not opening in new legal entity

Hello everyone,

I am facing an issue after creating a new legal entity in D365

When I try to create and save an item, I get these errors:

Retail Headquarters parameters record cannot be read
Field 'Agreement type' must be filled in
Field 'Customer group' must be filled in
Field 'Company' must be filled in
Field 'Unit' must be filled in
Field 'Currency code' must be filled in
Parameter record does not exist

After this, when I try to open Commerce parameters, I get:

The menu item with name retailparameters could not be opened.

Already tried:

Created new legal entity
Ran Initialize Commerce Scheduler job
Still Commerce parameters not opening and item creation failing

What configuration is missing for new legal entity in Commerce? Why are Retail/Commerce parameters not getting created or accessible?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Most likely causes are:

Number sequences not configured

Initial setups like currency code, customer group and all must be setup

Organization hierarchy / operating unit mapping missing

Security/menu access issue preventing Commerce parameters form from opening

Hi @Rashid.Ali,

This looks like a very unusual issue, as product creation normally should not depend on Commerce/Retail parameters directly. It could be related to a feature dependency, customization, or a system bug in the current version.
Please confirm your D365 F&SCM version and PU level.
Meanwhile, I would recommend configuring all missing setup records shown in the warning messages and verifying Commerce parameter initialization for the new legal entity. If the issue still persists, it would be best to raise it with Microsoft Support.

Agreement type

Customer group

Company

Unit

Currency code

Hi,

Set up Commerce for that legal entity (run required jobs + complete basic setup like customer group, currency, unit). After that, the errors will be resolved.

Hi Rashid,

As I understood, this is a new legal entity where you try to open a parameters page. Are you able to open other parameters from other modules? Do they all or only some give errors like this one?

Was the legal entity created by someone with the system administrator role or other roles? What security role(s) does the user have opening this page?

FYI, in case you open a parameters page the first time, it tries to create one record in the table. This can fail in case of incorrect permissions on the table. In that case, it is most likely related to security role permissions.

Hi @André,

Thank you for your response.

This issue is occurring only on the Commerce parameters page. I am able to open other parameter pages across different modules without any errors.

The legal entity was created by me, and I have the System Administrator role assigned. Therefore, I do not believe this is related to user security permissions.

I have tried opening the page multiple times, but I consistently receive the same error.

Any further guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Rashid,

Can you maybe try configure one setting like Agreement type and try it again?

If the error message doesn't mention the agreement type anymore, than it probably means that you need to configure also the other parameters.

Hi Rashid,

If you are a system admin, then indeed this is not related to security. I checked the behavior in a standard environment with a new legal entity and don't have this issue.

I checked the table design for mandatory fields or validations and noticed that the fields reporting the issue are not part of this table. Can you check if you have a customization or ISV solution which can cause this issue in your environment?
