Is it possible to assign a task to someone without changing the record owner?

Hi
I'm working in the sales app and trying to assign a task to a record using segments and work assignment. 
 
I want the task to be picked up by a member of the sales team, but I don't want the record owner changed.
 
(the record owner is the person going out to see the client, but I want a courtesy call to be made by a member of our central team confirming the appointment 2 days prior)
 
Is this possible? We've set it up but it doesn't seem to be working. It worked for a short period but now it's not so trying to find out why.

    Tasks in Dynamics CRM assume that the owner is the person who is going to be responsible for completing it. It sounds to me like you should look at updating your process to create another task specifically for the appointment confirmation process or use other activity types to track (such as phone calls or appointments). There's no reason you can't use a separate task for each part of the process, and this sounds like something that could easily be automated through Power Automate Cloud Flows (run once per day and find appointments happening 2 days from now, then create a task to call and confirm the appointment).

    You can assign a task in Dynamics 365 without changing the record owner by setting the task's Regarding field to the record and assigning the task to another user via the Owner field.
     
    Ensure the relationship behavior for the entity-task is set to Cascade None or Cascade Active to avoid ownership changes.
