As I understand from your question, you're encountering the error "The unit id is required" when trying to enable a free item within the Pricing Management module for a discount or a promotion.

The error you're seeing may be occurring because the unit of measure for the free item has not been specified, so the system cannot proceed with the setup.

To resolve this:

Check if the item setup, in the released products section, has proper measuring units configured.

Check whether, in the Price/Discount section, unit of measure is linked

Also check the order line for unit

Check whether Free item setup and its fields in Pricing Management module are properly populated.
