Error while running MRP for batch enabled items

We have the following scenario:

  1. WMS-enabled items are assigned a Batch first inventory model group, whereby the system reserves the sales order quantity from a single batch.

  2. To support this, Coverage plan by dimension is set to Yes for the Batch tracking dimension.
  3. Item coverage is configured for these batch-enabled items using a Min/Max replenishment method.

  4. However, when running Master Planning, we encounter a dimension not found error which goes away when we disable the setup mentioned in Point 2. Since item coverage cannot be defined for a specific batch, we are unable to provide a batch value in the coverage setup.

Could you please advise on how this situation should be handled?

    Sure Laurens van der Tang

We have few batch enabled items which will be reserved and released following the "Batch first" principle.

In addition to that we have an Item coverage setup (using Min/Max) for those items setup for generating planned PO and planned production orders.

But when we run the Master planning based on the Min/Max principle, it throws the inventory dimension error which states it’s looking for a batch to run the master planning for those items.

We want a workaround or any setup that can be configured to handled both the scenarios.

Let me know if you need anything specific to be clarified.

NOTE: All as-is setups are shared in the screenshots in the post above (for reference).
